My field kit for a week in the North Cascades
Two bodies, three lenses, eleven rolls, and the notebook I actually use. Everything weighed, with what I would leave home next time and the one thing I wished I had packed.

Seven days, sixty-two miles and a lot of switchbacks. Here is everything that went in the camera half of the pack, with its weight.
The list
- Two 35mm bodies, one loaded with color and one with black and white: 1.4 lb each.
- A 28mm, a 50mm and a 90mm: 1.6 lb together.
- Eleven rolls of film in a zip bag: 0.6 lb.
- A pocket notebook and a pencil: 2 oz.
Next time
The 90mm came home with four frames on it. It stays home. The thing I wished I had packed was a second lens cloth, after the first one went into a creek on day two.
